ELECTIONS: Taking You Vote for Granted

Considering So-Called Support Versus Real Commitment

The Inquiring News values our readers and appreciates being able to be a voice for people of color. As we continue to celebrate over 50 years of service and reporting, we bring valuable information to our people who are often ignored by mainstream media for the good that we do. We leave the bad news up to that mainstream media.

But as you often see, many candidates load you with a loud message of change and leadership without the commitment behind it. People of color continue to be the last in actually receiving the funds they are so-called politicking for.

We at Inquiring News know the hardships of African-Americans. But Republicans don’t seem to want to work on and attend to Black people’s real concerns. Just because CT is historically Democratic doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to know as much as we can to be informed about all platforms. Gov. Lamont may win, but what will he do to make our state the best it can be? Our communities need a larger investment in our urban communities, not the crumbs we are so-called getting from the feds, but more state funds to not only support but to resolve our issues of lack of attention to our needs.

Candidates like Bob Stefanowski and Leora Levy fail to support us or reach out to us as voters. They send us their press releases, but don’t send their ads, so our readers can see and hear more about their platforms. If they ignore us now, what in the hell will they do as our so-called leaders?

And the candidate for the state rep seat in the local 5th district is Maryam Khan, who was the replacement for Brandon McGee. She has not reached out to us nor has she responded to us on her so-called platform. What has she done for your community? People like her want the fame of elected office. And simply tell us in copied press releases what others are doing for their districts.

She has reached out to those in the community that Black voters have supported to make their wealth and apparently is seeking their support because they share similar ethnicities.

Running against her as a write-in candidate is Eljah El-Hajj-Bey, who owns his own business and is a former supervisor for the Hartford Department of Public Works. He is a hard-working family man who knows what area instructor needs are and how to best resolve our flooding issues. He is funding his own campaign and only asking for your vote so he can bring real leadership for his community.

In all, we need more people to get involved in politics, so we can have more diverse and true public servants to choose from.

So here are the candidates we support and value to-date:

Another term for Lamont, John Larson, Richard Blumenthal. We support and endorse; for Secretary of the State, Cynthia R. Jennings Esq., Eljah El-Hajj-Bey for the local 5th district, Erick Russell for State Treasurer. Doug McCrory for State Senator in the 2nd district, and State Rep. Bobby Gibson have our endorsement.

In closing we say, if you don’t support Black Press then you don’t support Black people.

These are my thoughts on this year’s elections – a worth considering if you want our vote, money and time. To those un-endorsed: Please prove us wrong in these opinions … if you can!

Sincerely Signed,
