The Connecticut Data Collaborative has announced that Jasmine Honegan, a Hartford native and current New Haven resident, has joined the organization as Data Engagement Specialist.
The Connecticut Data Collaborative (CT Data) is a public-private partnership that advocates for the public availability of open and accessible data, serving nonprofits, advocates, policymakers, community groups, and funders in using data to drive policy and improve programs and services, budgeting and decision making at the state, regional and local levels.
As Data Engagement Specialist, Honegan will help the CTData team support a statewide community around using data to drive planning and policy. Responsibilities in the position include developing, implementing, and conducting in-person and virtual training sessions for user groups across the state; facilitating data convenings, including the monthly Equity in Data Community of Practice; and assisting in the development of communication outreach materials.
A culturally responsive evaluation and assessment trained evaluator, Honegan has worked as a justice and data specialist within non-profit and education environments. She has experience analyzing and interpreting outcomes and other quality metrics for technical and non-technical audiences, and developing, editing, programming, administering, and conducting analysis on a variety of survey projects.
In addition, she has extensive experience in program evaluation and strategic planning for early childhood education within the home based childcare environment and implementing evaluation and dissemination plans with a culturally responsive lens for various programs and projects.
Executive Director Michelle Riordan-Nold said that Honegan “will be a tremendous asset in advancing our work to expand the ecosystem of data users throughout the state, and improve data literacy and equity practices. Her experience and expertise will also help to advance our efforts to broaden our connections with organizations throughout Connecticut and actively engage community members in data work.”
“I believe that data tells the cellular story of how our communities are shaped. Working with CTData and creating environments of data literacy allows me to help Connecticut residents shape more equitable cities and towns, remain curious about the potential and possibilities for our neighborhoods to reflect the best of ourselves,” said Honegan, whose languages proficiency includes Brazilian Portuguese in addition to English.
She previously served as an Evaluation & Learning Associate in New Haven for All Our Kin, a national nonprofit organization that trains, supports, and sustains family child care educators; as New Haven Chapter Leader for The Black Infinity Collective; and as Continuous Quality Improvement Specialist at CHD, a residential support program in Hartford. She has also worked as a Language and Culture Consultant in Brazil, and in Research Support at the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. Jasmine Honegan attended Seton Hall University and currently attends Hartford International University for Religion and Peace.
