NO Haircut. NO Business. Careers Destroyed

“Gov. Lamont’s Misguided Messages Hurting Us All”

Hartford – Local Barber says it like it is. Gov. Lamont’s confusing message shows lack of leadership and has caused us to fail. Loans designed to put us in further debt. And we can’t make a living, will destroy our careers. “ Its like we will have to start all over”, said Lester-owner of It’s A Gee Thang. Wednesday Lester and other held protest at the State Capital, in regards to the continued closure of Salons and Barbershops. They say that the Governor does not understand that among other industries people in the beauty business need to make a living and that they deal with sick people all the time and know how to practice safe healthy practices.

But when the Gov. 1st said they could open May 20 and then reject the opening date. It caused emotional distress. “When people get beauty services they feel good about themselves and that help their immune system”, says Lester.

“When the Gov. was running for office he stopped by our shop looking for votes. Now he is cause us to fail and lose our careers,” Lester continued.

Everyone has been severely hurt by the prolonged mandatory closure and it will take years to recoup to where we were pre Covid-19. And large companies have taken loans, while many small urban businesses have been denied funds and or offer small loans that have to be repaid.  (Note: We reached out to Gov. Lamont, his chief of staff and his press secretary, but no return calls. Also we have been trying to interview the Governor since March for comments and they have ignored us).
