Lee Saunders New President of AFSCME Recognized

LEE SAUNDERS, NEW PRESIDENT OF AFSCMEWASHINGTON, DC- (July 31, 2012) – As the first African American leader of a major union in the United States, newly elected American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) President, Lee Saunders, lends his voice to the current cadre of civil rights advocates.  Saunders (2nd from left) is shown here with Hilary O. Shelton (far left), Director of the NAACP’s Washington Bureau; Melanie L.
