Hartford – (By. Reggie Hales / 2-10-14-9AM) – Walter “Doc” Hurley, died Sunday night. He was the famed Coach, teacher, as well as mentor to countless numbers of young men and women in the Hartford Community. For years as the legendary coach at Weaver High. He put the “Beaver” in Weaver. Known by all, his life represented strength, faith, courage and excellence to all.

He expected the best of you and would take no less. Doc Hurley helped thousand’s of needy students attend college. He was 91. “ As a prodigy of Doc Hurley and a Alumni of his University Virginia State. His passing is an Amazing lost to our community. His legacy will live long beyond him. He was a family friend, and mentor.
